... but not gone for good. He's still playing and working part time at the rink.

We are excited to get this upcoming season going, however this summer was bittersweet as it included the retirement of long time Manager, David Westner.  David has led the GSAHA since 1986, coming here after a 2 year professional coaching stint and an 8 year pro playing career.  He inherited a struggling facility and program, growing them to what they are today.  Over ten thousand young skaters have come through the doors since then, all having the opportunity due in large part to his efforts.  The GSAHA family is grateful for his service to the arena, his wisdom in leading the program, and his friendship throughout his career.  Despite his retirement, David plans to work part time at the arena and help out as needed.  Dave will be honored at the Saginaw Spirit Game on September 22nd.  He will be dropping the puck at 7:05.  Special fundraising tickets are on sale for $10, with $5 coming back to the GSAHA if ordered online at  Group ID: GSAHA  Pass: Spirit18

Kenny Benson (Polar Palace Arena 2000-2008, Midland Civic Arena 2008-2018) will take over as Manager.  Benson grew up in the GSAHA program, interned at the arena for the 99-00 season, volunteered in several capacities and continues to coach in the program.
